Final conference of the EU/IPA project „CoRE” was held in Budva, in Hotel Splendid, on 15 November 2017. At final conference research results in the Republic of Croatia and Montenegro were presented. Additionally, publication “Maritime domain in the Republic of Croatia and Montenegro” was promoted, as one of the important achievements of the Project.

Mr Luka Mitrović, director of the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Seismology of Montenegro and Ms Vinka Kolić, director of the Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia opened the conference. In their introductory address, they pointed out the importance of collaboration between two countries, value and significance of EU funds and contribution of the project’s results, which overall objective is to contribute to improving protection and preservation of eastern Adriatic coastline.

Through the project “CoRE” significant equipment was obtained: multibeam echo sounder, side scan sonar, directional wave rider buoy, biologic probes etc. Hydrographic, oceanographic, biological and chemical measurements were conducted in the Republic of Croatia and Montenegro. Data were gathered from the surrounding of delta Neretva (approach to port Ploče, junction of Baćina lakes and sea), area of Dubrovnik city walls foundation, delta Bojana and beaches Mogren and Sutomore. On the basis of collected data five new nautical planes are created with updated hydrographic measurements, three in Montenegro and two in the Republic of Croatia. In addition, recommendations are made concerning natural changes of coastline border in Croatia and Montenegro influenced by erosion from mainland and wave power from the open sea. The research results provided new knowledge in areas requiring continuous monitoring for the safety of navigation and the protection of nature and cultural heritage.
